Booster peer group model
With the help of the Booster peer group model developed by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health you can create a peer group to support mental well-being and strengthen resources.
Booster peer group model is aimed at promoting mental well-being, preventive stress management, and strengthening resources. A Booster group can be either self-managed or it can be organised by an organisation.
A self-managed group needs a convener but otherwise it is responsible for organising itself as a group. In a group organised by an organisation, someone is responsible for the group and will arrange the time, space and possibly a professional to facilitate the group meetings. In principle, Booster peer group activities are free of charge to the participants, but potential costs include, for example, rent for premises. For organising parties, the costs may include working time of the organising party, remuneration of the group facilitator, catering, and communications and marketing.
Booster is not intended for solving crises situations or treating mental health problems and it does not constitute therapy. The model has been developed as part of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s Mental Health Toolkit project, and it is designed for the arts, culture and events sectors.
